There is one question to answer before buying a screen: how often is this opening used? A door screen you walk through ten times a day and a window screen that opens for two months in summer will not take the same system.
A hinged screen opens and closes like a door, has a frame, and is the most robust. That is what we fit on entrances in constant use. A pleated screen (plise) folds like an accordion and takes almost no space, which suits wide balcony doors; the bottom track has to be kept clean, because sand makes it stiff. A roller screen winds the mesh into a top cassette and looks the neatest on windows.
Tell us at the start if you have a cat. Standard mesh does not survive claws and gets holed within weeks. Reinforced cat mesh is slightly thicker and cuts the view very little, but it holds. Fitting the right mesh from the beginning costs less than replacing it later.
Screen work gets busy in Bodrum at the start of summer. After the middle of June there can be a wait. People who call in May get theirs fitted the same week.
We repair screens and replace mesh as well: torn mesh, tracks that have come out, worn brushes, pleated systems out of adjustment. Screen prices depend on size and system, and small jobs usually finish in the same visit. When looking for someone to do screen work, ask one thing: can you replace the mesh, or do you only sell whole units? We replace it.
