Before we close your balcony, let us settle one thing: is it the wind that bothers you, the dust, or do you want to sit out there in winter too? The answer decides which system we build.
On a sliding glass balcony the panes slide sideways and stack at one end. This is the easiest to live with day to day. On a guillotine glass balcony the panes lift upward, nothing is left in front of you and the view opens completely; the mechanism is more delicate, though, and once the adjustment slips the glass starts to catch. A folding glass balcony gives the widest opening, but the folded panes take up a corner.
In Bodrum we watch two things in particular. The first is salt. On balconies near the sea the bottom track collects salt and fine sand constantly, and rollers wear faster than usual. The second is the afternoon meltem; the wind stiffens after midday and pushes on any panel left open, so the lock bolt works loose over time. Along the coast we therefore fit stainless rollers and tell people to clean the track once a year.
Standard glass is 8 mm tempered. If you plan to use the balcony in winter, have double glazing fitted. A single-glazed balcony does not warm up; it only stops the wind. We say this at the start because changing the glass later means changing the profile.
We do not quote a price per m² over the phone. The figure moves with glass thickness, profile brand, whether the balcony is square or angled, and how many panels come out of it. We measure first, then put the price in writing. The survey costs nothing.
We repair glass balconies as much as we install them. The job we see most often is roller replacement. Gasket renewal comes next; in summer houses that stay shut all winter the seals dry out and shrink.
