The only thing separating a bioclimatic pergola from a fixed one is the louvered roof. The louvers turn on a motor: open, air passes through; closed, they hold the rain. The whole price difference comes from that. A fixed aluminium pergola costs less and its roof does not move.
When the louvers close, water runs off through concealed gutters. The point to watch is fall: if the gutter does not run with enough slope, water pools in heavy rain. The fitting team has to calculate this, and you cannot tell from a catalogue.
The aluminium is powder-coated and does not corrode in Bodrum salt air. That much is true. But if the screws and fixings are not stainless steel, they start staining within a couple of seasons. When you take a quote, ask what the fixings are made of.
A wind sensor looks optional on paper. In Bodrum it is not. When the meltem stiffens, open louvers take a beating, and the sensor closes them by itself. If you are adding side zip screens it matters even more. On an automatic pergola, keep the sensor on the list.
